The West Coast Park is a popular area of natural beauty with camping sites and hostel accommodation within close distance for those who are looking to spend some time in the region. The park is situated about 100 km from Cape Town up the R27 highway with the last section of road at the time of writing this being a gravel road. It is slightly inland from the Saldanha Bay harbour and begins at the Langebaan Lagoon. Animals found in the Postberg section include Gemsbok, Wildebeest and Zebra and among the sights is the whitewashed settlement at Churchhaven. The whitewashed settlement was founded in 1863 by a deserter from an American merchant vessel called George Lloyd.
