If you are looking for the perfect small town escape, you should try to find Dwarskerbos self-catering accommodation online.
A regular holiday is very important for everybody, especially individuals and families who lead busy lives with hectic work, school and extra-mural activity schedules. Having time off is good, but a change of scenery is just as important. The old saying ‘a change is as good as a holiday’ is particularly true when your routine becomes stagnant and you begin to feel tired and sour. Luckily for South Africans, some of the best, most beautiful and most interesting holiday spots in the world are right here in our country.
There are spectacular mountain ranges, raging rivers, different oceans, sandy beaches, hiking trails, game parks, wonderful restaurants, five start hotels, extreme sport activities like paragliding and bungee jumping, incredible cities, historical landmarks and much more to keep us busy and occupied in our free time.
However, if you want to time and space to wind down, nothing beats a relaxing holiday in self-catering accommodation in one of South Africa’s many small seaside towns. Renting self-catering accommodation means that you will not have the hassle of having to order food from a hotel kitchen or go out to a restaurant every time you feel somewhat peckish.
You will be able to stock up your own kitchenette with all the essentials, saving yourself money. Many self-catering chalets and flatlets will offer a cleaning service so that you do not have the stress of doing your own dishes, floors and beds while you are on holiday. This, in itself, will add a huge amount of relaxation to your holiday.
About Dwarskerbos
Dwarskerbos is a very small fishing village in the West Coast District Municipality of the Western Cape. It has a population of less than four hundred people and the majority of the residents are Afrikaans speaking. It is just 11 kilometres from Laaiplek and is also close to St Helena Bay.
The unusual name ‘dwarskerbos’ is said to come from the Afrikaans name of a plant: the kersbos. According to the Human Science Research Council, the Portuguese explorer Vasco de Gama first landed in South Africa very close to the coast of Dwarskerbos in 1497. Another interesting historical occurrence that took place in Dwarskerbos was a six metre high tidal wave in 1969.
Dwarskerbos also boasts the Rocherpan Nature Reserve, a seasonal wetland vlei, where visitors can enjoy sightings of many incredible birds and creatures including some endangered species. The pristine, beautiful beaches are another appealing asset that this town has to offer.
This small village, with its own strip of coastline, is a perfect holiday destination for anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. With very few people and enough space to enjoy yourself in privacy, Dwarskerbos is a great place to unwind, spend some time catching your breath and enjoying your time off with your family.
